About Curoxyl®

Benzoyl Peroxide is one of the most effective treatments for acne. While highly effective, traditional forms of Benzoyl Peroxide can cause skin irritation. Curoxyl® 42 Benzoyl Peroxide Gel, USP is a patented, aqueous based, micronized benzoyl peroxide dispersion (40%) in the form of a gel. Curoxyl® 42 can be the starting point for topically applied anti-acne creams, anti-acne wipes, face and body washes, cleansers and medicated pet shampoo formulations.

Causes of Acne

Propionibacteria acnes (P. acnes) are bacteria that live on the skin and can multiply in excess oil. Sebum is an oily secretion produced by the sebaceous glands. Overactive sebaceous glands can clog pores with sebum. This creates an anaerobic environment where P.acnes multiply.

How Curoxyl® Works

Typical BPO particles are larger than the pore itself. The micronized Curoxyl® 42 particles allow it to penetrate pores to attack P. acnes bacteria. Once Curoxyl® has made contact with the bacteria, the oxidizing effect of the particle eliminates bacteria.
